Georgian Mews

Full refurbishment, Rear Extension & Restoration of a Georgian Terraced House

Scope

Location

London

North London Townhouse is a three-storey, Grade II listed Georgian mews house which features a new double height glass extension to the rear. Large glazed sliding doors can be fully opened to fully appreciate the mature walled garden beyond.

The reclaimed terracotta tiled floor and new internal cantilevered balcony helps stitch together the contemporary glass enclosure with the original brick facade of the rear elevation. Interior materials were intentionally understated yet robust and allow natural light from above and the garden to be the focal point.

The project also included the refurbishment of the primary bathroom. The graceful period decorative cornices and mouldings have been faithfully restored to create a bathroom with a refined elegance.
